Hi! I've been painting lately, and I'm getting ready to submit a lot more. As it turns out, acrylic paints are actually not all bad. I used to hate them because you can't blend anything,but looking oily and pretty is not the purpose of acrylics; you have to use their attributes to your advantage. In fact, it's really cool to use color layering with acrylics to get a flash-design sort of thing going, with bold solid colors and freaky lines and shapes. I find that once I lay down a background color, and think about my composition for a while, the picture just comes to me. Look for 8 new paintings really soon! I've already started all of them.

It's almost harvest season, but I've already harvested three pumpkins and a few other choice veggies from my garden!! Aside from fending off deer for most of the summer, I've been painting and trying to do a little traveling in between. Next is sewing! I'm happy about that. We visited the coast and had a great time a few weeks ago! The ocean was colder than hell. I can't believe it's almost the end of the year again. I hope everyone's ready for 2011, because it's the last year before 2012 when we all die!!! Remember? Mayan death splosion! Oh... no?

It's almost summer now (go figure!) but I already lost my ceramics studio and found a new job. So instead of making pottery this summer, I'll be painting and taking pictures, probably doing some sewing. And I got a spinning wheel!!! It's not a pottery wheel, but a wonderful device used to spin yarn into thread. Plenty of people in this region (northwest US) harvest their own wool from their fiber animals, which I think is just way too cool. The old ladies around town taught me how to spin, and I already made my first spool of thread!
